“The only thing that you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library.”

Our History
The MC Library has had a long and varied past. Originally created in the late 1930s, the Library has existed in many different forms – from the Legion Hut, to Harrison and Pyatt, then to the county courthouse. Starting out as a temporary addition the county, the Library proved successful and with support from the Quorum Court, stayed in the courthouse until 1967. It was in 1967 that the Library Board voted on moving the Library to its own building, and in 1968, building began. We have been in that building ever since. In 2000, an Annex was added to the building due to the generous donations of the South Shore Foundation in Bull Shoals, as well as the Madelyne M. and Edward C. McCarty Foundation in Dallas, TX, amongst many others.
