What do I need to get a library card?

If you’re a Marion County, AR resident, Marion County Library cards are FREE!

The first thing you need is an ID or Driver’s License. It does NOT have to be an Arkansas ID.

The second thing you need is proof of address. This will need to have both your name and your PHYSICAL address listed to count. We will accept proof in print or digital form.

What counts as proof of address?

  • Voter Registration
  • Vehicle Registration
  • Fishing License
  • Utility Bill
  • Amazon Account Shipping Information
  • Etc

We will also accept proof of land ownership in Marion County.

If you’re from Searcy County, AR, Marion County Library cards are only $10 per year.

If you’re from Baxter County, Marion County Library cards are only $25 per year.

At this time, residents from all other AR counties can get library cards for free.

How old do I have to be to get a card?

We have no minimum age limit to get a card. However, anyone under the age of 18 will only be able to get a card if their parent or guardian has one as well. Minors do not need to provide ID or proof of address.

How old do I have to be to get an E-Card?

At this time, to get an E-Card, you must be 18 years or older.

What kind of card do I need to use the computers?

Anyone with a temporary or established card can use our computers.

If you do not have a card with us, we can create a free Internet Card for you. These are good for a year and are only for computer use.

To get one, all you need to bring in is a valid ID or driver’s license. It does not have to be an Arkansas ID.

How do I renew my card?

To renew your card, please come into the library, call us at (870)449-6015, or email us at mclibrarystaff@marioncountyar.gov. We will simply need to confirm that your information is correct.

Fines:

How much do fines cost?

The first day an item is overdue, fines are not applied. After that, it is 25 cents a day.

What can I do inside the Library?

We have lots of fun and useful things you can do!

  • Read books
  • Read local newspapers
  • Hang out alone or with friends
  • Bring your kids in to play
  • Charge your electronics
  • Use our computers (with a free Internet Card)
  • Enjoy free coffee on Wednesdays
  • Play board games
  • Put together puzzles
  • Read new issues from a variety of magazines
  • Free snacks for teenagers

We also have some fun programs, such as:

  • Marion County Library Book Club
  • Marion County Library Games (Wednesdays at 10 AM)
  • Marion County Library Crafts (Wednesdays at 11 AM)
Do I have to sign up to join your weekly events?

No, our weekly events are free to the public. However, our Gaming and Crafting programs are for ages 12 and up.

Do I have to sign up to join your special events?

It depends on the event. We will inform patrons if they will need to sign up.

This is due to how much space we have available in the library. Our programs will always be free.

Can I print something at the Library? Can I fax or scan something?

Yes, yes, and yes!

Our printer is available for patron and non-patron use. Staff is more than happy to help anyone use the printer.

Can I get something notarized at the Library?

Unfortunately, we are not able to provide any notary services at this time.

If you have a local bank, they may be able to help you.

When and where are Library Board meetings?

Library Board Meetings are held every third Tuesday at 5:00 PM, and they are held in the Library. A list of all regular meeting times can be found on our Library Board page.

Please check our Facebook page for notification of any special meeting times.

Does the Library have a meeting room? Can I have a meeting here?

At this time, we do not have any meeting rooms. However, you are welcome to hold a meeting inside the Library. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a quiet or private space.

Library Collection:

How can I request for an item to be added to the Library’s collection?

We have an option to request items on our Library Catalog!

Once you’ve logged in, simply go to “My Account”, where you’ll find a tab called “Reserves / Requests”. There you will find a form you can fill out to let us know if we’re missing something.

Inside the library, we have Material Request Forms available by the front desk. You can fill these out and hand them in to the staff.

We will do our best to work on your requests, though we cannot guarantee we will be able to buy every item.

I have a card. How do I access Libby?

On your Libby app, choose “Add Library”. Look for Marion County, and make sure it’s for Yellville, AR. Our Library is called “ArkansasLibrary2Go”.

Once there, you should be able to log in. Your account number will be the number found on the back of your library card–the WHOLE number. Your password should be your phone number without any spaces or dashes. If your area code is 870, your password is your phone number MINUS the 870.

Why does Libby say I’m unable to access my account?

Your account has likely expired! Please call the library at (870)449-6015 or come in to the Library to renew.

Does the Library do Inter-Library Loan?

Unfortunately, currently we are not part of any ILL system.

Can I reserve an item online?

Yes! To reserve an item online, you need to go to our Catalog and sign in to your account. From there, you can search for whichever item(s) you’re looking for. Once you click on it, it will bring up that item’s record in our system.

On top of the record, there will be a button that says “Reserve This Item”. All you have to do is click that, and we’ll take care of the rest! Once we have the item for you, we will call, text, or email you to let you know it’s waiting for you in the Library.
