Volunteering at MC Library
How old do I have to be to volunteer?
Volunteers must be 12 years old or older.
What is the process of signing up?
You will fill out your application and a background check. After turning these in to the staff, we will run the background check, which you will also receive a copy of. We will then call you to let you know if you have been accepted or not.
Minors will not be given a background check. We will call references instead.
If you already have submitted to a background check for another purpose and are able to provide it, we will accept that in lieu of doing a new background check.
Does applying to be a volunteer cost money?
No, applying is free. The Library pays for the cost of the background check.
Can I choose when to volunteer?
Yes, we will work with your schedule.
What do volunteers do?
We have various tasks a volunteer can do. It depends on what is needed and what you are interested or able to do. Generally, volunteers will help with shelving, cleaning, making craft bags, or putting labels on books.
