Tweens learn about SPACE! at Marion County Library

by

For March, our tween home schooling class learned about space!

First, we watched a short video about how space may not be silent after all – did you know that stars make noise? We can’t hear it with our ears, but it’s true! Only one of our space expert tweens knew that fun fact.

Then, we ate some Oreos – educationally of course. The kids did a hands-on activity sheet where they cut up the cookies, and used the creme to represent the phases of the moon. Once we were done, they got to eat the cookies, of course.

Finally, we made paper plate aliens. Using tissue paper, construction paper, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, and more, our tweens created some awesome little creatures.

Please meet, amongst others, Mr. Cotton Candy, Jimmy, Suzie, and our grumpy old guys.

Next month, the tweens will be learning how to make their own books! A sign up form will be available soon, or call the library at (870)449-6015 to join.
